Another spicy product from The Co-operative’s ‘Truly Irresistible’ range is their whole cherry tomato & chilli pasta sauce.
Pasta was a large part of my diet when I was a student. It was quick, easy and you could add it to pretty much anything. I often brought jars of sauces to go with them and then splashed a few drops of Tabasco on top to finish. I don’t think shop-brought spicy sauces ever come that spicy and this is no exception.
Although you can taste the chilli, it doesn’t really pack that much of a punch but it does have a lot more flavour than your typical pasta sauce. It made for a very tasty lunchtime treat.
Tomato, chilli & bacon pasta
- 1 jar of The Co-operative’s Truly Irresistible cherry tomato & chilli pasta sauce
- 4 slices of bacon
- Enough pasta for two people
Cook the pasta according to the packet instructions. Heat some oil in a saucepan and then use scissors to cut the slice of bacon into the pan. Fry for about four minutes on a medium-low heat. Don’t let them go crispy otherwise that will impair the flavour of the sauce.
Add the sauce to the bacon. Heat through whilst stirring. Drain pasta and place back into a saucepan. Add the bacon and sauce mix and then mix everything together until the pasta is fully coated. If you have some grated cheese you may want to sprinkle some on top. Serve.
