Happy New Year spice lovers!
Hope you have had a great time over the festive period and thanks for reading The Chilli Pad in 2012.
In 2013 there are many predictions for food fads, many of which include chilli. Some I wouldn’t mind trying, others I think I’ll pass. Either way, here are two products you can look out for this year.
A Thai paste which is now becoming popular around the globe. It consists of chilli peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar and salt and is used often as a dipping sauce, especially with seafood. In America, the sauce is now being added to mayonnaise to form a sandwich sauce.
Sounds interesting but might not be as exciting as you thought. Kimchi is a traditional Korean dish of fermented vegetables, typically cabbage, radishes or cucumber. Used in a lot of stews, Kimchi can be mild or spicy depending on seasoning, but it’s the spicy versions which seem to be making their way around the world.
If anyone has tried either of these products, I’m interested to hear your verdict.
